What headers fit?
What headers are you guys using on your trucks?
Trying to figure out what will fit. Oh, and I'm running a small block with floor shift auto. Last edited by David Flores; 01-11-2008 at 09:23 AM. |

Re: What headers fit?
I'm running these headers (in ceramic)...
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/CAMAR...mZ260200849073 they're a bargain - they fit great and outstanding quality, the flanges are stout on these things |

Re: What headers fit?
Hey David, I used a Summit part that worked well. For 88-98 trucks. Welded the o2 hole shut and put them in.........my engine is in the forward postion which tightens it up a bit.

Re: What headers fit?
I am using ramhorns, I lowered my truck so much that the aftermarket headers were going to drag the ground. So I had to get some ramhorns that dumped straight down so to clear my z bar. The ones that emptied out toward the back would not fit because of the z bar.

Re: What headers fit?
First thing i did was jerk my headers off and put ram horns on. Get you a good set or it will sound like a cat hissing and spitting at ya. Also no way i could lower my truck much with the headers that were on it.

Re: What headers fit?
Hey David............I had to dig to find the part number. It is as follows: SUM-G9014. These are shorty headers and you send your exhaust over the tranny x-member. Not one piece of exhaust can hit the ground. Check 'em out anyway. Oh yeah, these turned out to be Pacesetters.

Re: What headers fit?
On my 64 C10 with 350, I use the Hookers that are listed for a 64 C10 with 283 V8 and 3-speed manual. They fit like a glove. The only thing I had to modify was to shorten the threaded rod that actuates the clutch fork. I think they were $159 from Summit. From looking at the photos, I do not think ProTrash's headers will work with a manual transmission...no room for clutch linkage/z-bar.

Re: What headers fit?
I looked at the photos, Ogilthorpe's headers aren't going to work around the clutch linkage either. The only header I know of that works in a 60-66 with manual transmission is the Hooker HOK-2452HKR, $185.95 at Summit. Hopefully this link will work...

Given that I am about to replace mine when the motor is out I am looking at the Hedmans or ones from Thorley as they are a better quality than the old Hookers... I have a set of ram horns but am concerned how they will flow on my stroker after it gets a refreshening.... YMMV p.s. this is on a '65 C-10 LWB with a small block and the factory SM420 trans. I will have to check what position the motor mounts are in but I believe it is forward as well as I have no clearance issues with the HEI but there isnt much room.. Edit: just went and had a look and the motor mounts are bolted into the rear most holes on the frame rails... I actually have a ground strap bolted into the forward hold which may explain the closeness of the HEI to the firewall.. I think this is the only way to do it as the bell housing works like a crossmember given that there isn't one at the tailshaft.. Last edited by blackedoutharley; 01-12-2008 at 01:11 PM. Reason: more info on engine positioning... |

Re: What headers fit?
I'm running a set of Heddman ceramic coated hedders. If you cruise their site, I believe they list a set for 60-66's. They are the ones I have..
