Control Arms?

Are 1971 2wd 1/2t control arms the same as 1970 2wd 3/4t? what the diference? can the ball joints just be switched?

I think the arms are different, but that the balljoint diameter is the same. The threaded parts of the balljoint may be different lengths, though. Others should chime in with more info.

I need to know how they are different also. I've got a FE from a 1970 or 1971 that I need to buy parts for. Wondering if the pivot arms are the same, as well as the ball joints. Thanks dave2953 for starting this thread! ET

you can swap the upper arms(just swap the ball joints). The lowers are different from 1/2 to 3/4 ton, due to the size of the hole in the arm for the ball joint. crazyL
