Rear gas tank installation help????

I have an '87 shortwheel base fleetside chevy with drop shackles/hangers and spindles. I was wanting to put a gas tank in the rear and eliminate the two side tanks. I tried to use an old suburban gas tank but it was way to big. Any suggestions on what tank I could use? It just needs to be a little smaller than a suburban tank!

thanks for your help!!!

Re: Rear gas tank installation help????

if im not mistaken the burb was a wider frame ..years back i tried to put a hitch from a burb on my pickup and it was way too wide how about a blazer im not sure if thats the same as a pickup width wise and if the tank is in the rear then it may work

Re: Rear gas tank installation help????

It looks like Chris must have used either the 31 gallon tank or the 25 gallon tank. I got the big@$$ tank that wont fit I know that (probably the 40 gallon) haha! Maybe I'll ask him or hopefully heal reply on here...

Thanks guys!

Re: Rear gas tank installation help????

I used a 31g tank from a Blazer. The 25g and 31g tanks are for both Burbs and Blazers, but the 40g tank is Suburban only. If you get either of the smaller ones they will work like the writeup...

Re: Rear gas tank installation help????

I put a 40 gallon tank into my K25, and it fit alright. But that is a long bed 3/4 ton 4x4.

I'd get a smaller 25 gallon tank if you were planning on putting it into a lowered truck...
