Re: Funny Ford 4x4? Story

I find this thread kind of interesting because there are three separate stories here of a new truck or car not being what it is supposed to be.

I can easily see someone getting duped like this. There is so much going on under the hoods and underneath vehicles these days. I would think the majority of people just want to push a button to get their ride to do that "special" thing they purchased it for.

We had a 1999 S-10 4x4 Blazer. We used it for many years before we had a need to put it in 4 wheel drive. When we finally did, it didnt work. Course it was there it just didnt work. So a person that didnt even have their 4x4 stuff installed in the first place may not find out for a very long time.

Seems like there may be a 20/20 type story for these other folks...maybe?

Re: Funny Ford 4x4? Story

if you can't see it or touch it steer clear

but on other hand someone may have put "stickers" to make it seem better or faster and never have a intention for it to live up to that.

Re: Funny Ford 4x4? Story

The real sad part is how can somebody that stupid have the money to buy a $50,000 new truck in the first place? Something aint right with the world.

Re: Funny Ford 4x4? Story

A good friend of my father in law purchased a Liberty when they first came out. He wanted a 4x4. Months after purchasing the Liberty, he found out / realized it wasn't a 4x4. We could not figure out why he thought it was a 4x4, b/c there were no stickers or buttons, etc.

The only thing we could figure is that he must of complained about the price of a specific 4x4, so the dealer showed him another that was cheaper and 2x4, lol.

I don't know how people make these kind of mistakes, but I've seen it first hand.

Re: Funny Ford 4x4? Story

We always go to a dirt road, engage 4WD and check for engagement AKA sliding on gravel when buying a 4WD. Easier than climbing under it, which we do also.

Re: Funny Ford 4x4? Story

Sounds like everybody missed the Ford Factory Tech Release. It seems that when the 4wd button is pressed the Onstar kicks in and calls the nearest tow company.
