All excellent advice. Used furnace is pretty much worthless. If you have gas, I would take advantage of it. I'll probably put my electric furnace in my shop when I upgrade my house to a heat pump, but who knows when THAT will be. In the mean time, I just use the radiant barn (as they call it...Hmmm. ) heater if anything.

I'm surprised you even need a heater down in that sunny, bikini clad Texas climate of yours. Btw, tell them college girls I say hello!

Jack, have you thought of a dual air- heat unit, gas-pack. self contained, high low any where. I got on for the house, $ 2600 installed. But if you can get someone to wholesale it to ya. Appx. $11-1300 do your own ducts you'd have heat & air. Do good on a 2400 sq ft garage. Or try 2 4-5 plaqe ventless nat gas heaters on each side or end of it. Use as needed, cost what 2-3 hundred? I"m goin' with 2 3- plaqe, one up front and the other at the back. My garage is 14 by 32.

Chances are your name won't come up when I'm talkin' with girls... Yea, I seldomly use the heat unless I am doing something that is temp sensitive. (Paint or drywall, or it is REALLY cold-ouside temp in 20's or 30's.) Until I get the whole thing insulated, it's really hard to keep temp up. I have two whirly-birds, 3 gravity vents, and two gable vents which really lets the heat out! Also have non-insulated garage doors (4 of 'em 9'x7', I just couldn't afford insualted, it doubled the price.) Whatever you decide, hopefully you have been steered from the kerosene....

If your barn is anything like my barn, use the house heater, a big wood burner and 2 space heaters.....my barn needs help bad!!!!!.....I'm gonna have to try the ATF and diesel mix in my knipco heater, I just use #2 diesel in it, but diesel smoke makes me horny, so my wife won't let me work in the barn much in the winter.......LMAO
