Ok to make a long story short. I took my truck for a spin this past weekend and I have a front end rebuild project coming soon.. so i've read tons on the subject of poly bushings on the net and on the site archives.. and i still don't know which way to go. so tell me if any of you guys have poly bushings and if you like them? Is the ride rough as iv'e heard ? should i just put rubber back in ? help me out i can't read no more

Re: help me decide!!
I have had poly bushings on my lowered daily driver for about 5 years. My only complaint is that in the last 6 months the bushings have started squeaking when it's cold out. My guess is that the silicone grease has washed out.
I would say the ride is stiffer with poly over rubber, but I don't find it objectionable. I also have a 1/14 sway bar on the front with poly bushings, that probably contributes to the stiffness. My only advice would be to look for greasable poly bushings or add a grease zerk to the a-arms. |

Re: help me decide!!
Polygraphite! That's the word you need to be looking for. Polyurethane bushing will squeak. Polygraphite bushing are graphite impregnated urethane and will not squeak.

Re: help me decide!!
i did mine with rubber as the truck rides hard enough as is and didnt want it any rougher.. most of my friends swear by the polyurethane or polygraphite.. they have all that fancy 4wd stuff on their trucks too

Re: help me decide!!
I figured if the original rubber bushings and cab mounts lasted 30+ years why add to a already stiffer ride and have to put up with squeaks.
I re-installed rubber. Besides, I won't be here another 30 so the next owner can install what works for them.

Re: help me decide!!
I have used both on my trucks and i never noticed that much difference in the ride,i did learn real quick that the poly bushings, need to be greased real good to prevent squeaks. My 68 squeaked so bad i changed back to rubber on it.
