anyone here made an extended cab?

Ive been pondering the idea of makeing my own extended cab when i redo my 77. It is in need of a new frame so i thought if i used a longbed frame and cut 8 inches off the back then bolt my short bed and cab down i should have a foot in between them right? Would a foot be enough for an extended cab that looked proportional or would i need to add to the frame? I plan to just cut the back wall out of my cab and use the rear section of another cab and some door skins to build the extended portion then maybe graft in the window opening out of another extended cab truck so i can use production glass in it instead of having glass cut. What do you guys think and if anyone has done it lets see the pics. Thanks guys,
Jeremy

Re: anyone here made and extended cab?

Jott: Sounds like a whole lot of work. Why not just shorten a crew cab frame and all in 1 shot and then graft the halves togther? If I were in your shoes thats the way I would do it. If you decide to chop a crew cab make the doors first then fit the truck to them. I had toyed with the idea of makeing a long bed (8') into a LONG bed (10') so I could put a tool box in the front of the box and still be able to load plywood or sheetrock in the back and still be able to close the gate. Decided against it when I started my restoration (see my thread on it) I have a 8 X 17 equipment trailer now. NOTHING goes in the truck bed now!!

Little stuff left to do is mount winch, wet sand & buff out and build belly pan\running boards. Body work takes lots and LOTS of beer!!!! God, Guts and Guns made America and God, Guts and Guns will preserve it! The worst thing you could do is get into my sights, but that don't matter, you'll never know it, cause you'll never hear the shotJim or Paladin whichever you choose.

Re: anyone here made and extended cab?

i heard of a guy who is the friend of a friend who took a crew cab frame put on a regular body and extended the cab out about a foot then made a longhorn outta the bed with the remainder of the length of the frame. He also made it a duallie outta the back
He used it to drag stuff around. Allegedly the truck is going to be stripped and im going to get some parts off of it and i will try to get pics when it happens
