WIW ’68 Chevy C-10 Short Step

I’m moving to Portugal for 2yrs in May (and may stay overseas for several more years thereafter) and I do not want to deal with storage or shipping fee’s. I’ve had it for 2 yrs and I h8 to do it, but it will be too much of a PITA to keep it.

It has a 350/350 combo that was rebuilt unknown yrs & miles ago by a local well know track racer/engine builder the PO knows. It was built mild for him since he’s an older gentleman that has no desire for a Hi-Po engine. It an older rebuild as I’ve had to replace a few items but it is a good solid running engine.

The good:

The bed is one I bought from OJOE and it is in great shape with minimal rust (he can attest to that). No real bed wood though.

New parts (2 yrs old or less and all brand new parts, no remans):

Batt
Starter (Autozone)
H2O pump (Autozone)
Carb (Edel Perf 600 cfm)
Intake (Edel Perf RPM)
Fuel pump (Holly)
Painless 18 circuit harness
Tail light assemblies
Reverse light assemblies
DJM front 3” drop springs
BellTech NitroActive front shocks
Brothers rear 5” drop springs
BellTech NitroActive rear shocks
3” lowering blocks w/ u-bolts (not installed)
ECE rear shock relocation kit
CPP adjustable panhard bar
CPP C-notch kit
ECE standard U-bolts
Stewart Warner 6K tach
Stewart Warner voltmeter
Stewart Warner temp gauge
Stewart Warner oil press gauge
Headlight switch (Napa)
Turnsignal switch (Napa)
Front & rear brake shoes (Napa)
Front & rear brake hoses (Napa)
Front & rear brake cylinders (Napa)
Rear axle seals (Napa)
Bed mounting kit
ECE power steering hoses
ECE power steering return line
Rag joint
1 piece Fel-Pro oil pan gasket (< 6 mths old)
Alternator (rebuilt)

The bad:

No SPID so I have no idea what it was optioned with. Has most of the common rust issues.

I’ll post pics tomorrow when it’s light out.

Re: WIW ’68 Chevy C-10 Short Step

How are your bed strips. If there not all bent up and not to rusted, I may be interested. If there salvagable, are they paintable? cost plus shipped to 33024 (So Fla).

How about tail light/backup light lenses?

How about rear bumper brackets?

Re: WIW ’68 Chevy C-10 Short Step

Nope, no disc brakes on her. That was a planned upgrade, but no longer. I do have the bed strips. They are straight and are definitely paintable. The brake/reverse light lenses are in excellent shape, about 1 yr old as well as the whole assemblies. I also have the bumper brackets, they're for a step bumper if there's any difference. I can ship it if you can do all of the leg work. I'm too busy right now to even attempt working that. I'm getting ready for the move, I'm studying for my bachelors & associates degrees, studying for promotion, and lastly, but certainly not least, I need time for my wife & kids. I'll take some pics around lunch time so ya'll can get a better idea of what I got.

Sorry to hear you're going to sell the truck, however, you're going to have a great time overseas AND you'll find another when you get back. Best of luck to your family and remember.... Integrity first, service before self and excellence in all you do.

Take care,

Re: WIW ’68 Chevy C-10 Short Step

Thanks Rob, I appreciate that. When I do get back stateside, finding a new truck will be at the top of the list.

Sorry, no pics today. It's raining and I don't want to get her wet.

I'm coming down to Pensacola on Saturday (pending weather) to see the naval museum. I won't have cash in hand and don't want to get your hopes up but we'll see after the pics...

Mike,

95% of Aviation Museum is on the inside, if that is what you are worried about. They've really done a great job expanding it and are even talking about starting an aviation cadet school. Enjoy your visit.

68 P.O.S. I pm'd my number, call me on the bed parts and lens. If you want, I'll call you - I have free long distance. Just PM your number. I may be in the your way this weekend. I used to live in Fort Walton.

Re: WIW ’68 Chevy C-10 Short Step *update with pics*

Here's some pics I took 10 min ago. The front fenders are pretty much shot, but I have good replacements that will be included. So what do you guys think it's worth??

cool thanks...

well, you must have a ballpark price in mind....

engine looks good....I would guess $2,500-$3K+ depending how any rust areas are. Without the bed being down will hurt though... I'm cheap though so don't take my word for it...

Not really, all I know is that I knew nothing about these trucks when I bought it and I paid way too much for the truck. Now that I'm selling it I want to know from everyone here what it is really worth. I don't want to do anyone wrong like what happened to me.

That being said, can anyone else tell me what they think it is worth?

Re: WIW ’68 Chevy C-10 Short Step

I am not sure what it is worth but you might be better off parting it out. Just a thought, if you do I would like the rear fenders for a good price?

Re: WIW ’68 Chevy C-10 Short Step

if you need to sell quickly then put it on Ebay, you pay one price even if it doesn't sell. put a reserve on it so you don't give it away and you're set...
