Back in the GM Truck saddle
Hi all.
I am back in the GM truck saddle after 15 years or so. I have been a IH truck (Scout and Travelall) guy for the last 7 or 8 years (still have them, just moving 'em to the back burner) and my wife decided to pick up a 1982 GMC High Sierra K10 with a blown engine while I was out of town last summer. And here I am. I am excited about having a vehicle that parts are easy to come by after hunting months and years for some stuff for my IHs. Just out of high school I bought a 1982 Chevrolet Scottsdale C10 with a 6.2 Diesel and a TH700. Not exactly a chick magnet, but it got over 20 mpg and was comfy. After a few years and 3 trans rebuilds later, I sadly parted it out. I have always wanted another 6.2 but that early 700R4 was a piece. I also had a 1967 C10 SWB I got when I was about 14 from the "farmer down the road" as the old story goes, It was a typical teenage project that ended up being torn apart with great ambition, only to be left behind when my parents sold their farm many years later. I really am sad about that one, had the small back window and the wooden bed floor. Don't see those everyday. Anyway, I will be asking many newbie questions to start with here, so I ask forgiveness now . Jay |
