69-70 Grill difference ???
I have seen both these style factory original grills on many of the 69-70 trucks. The difference is where the center bar meets the head lights.
The 1st one has the black painted & molded lines all the way to the head lights and the 2nd one stops just after the turn signal lights. Any one know the reason for this? I thought at first that the 2nd one was aftermarket but I see them being sold as original GM parts, NOS. I have also seen them on many trucks where I doubt they're aftermarket??? Rob |

Re: 69-70 Grill difference ???
There are apparently differences from the factory for the grille shell. I have seen them that were shiny all the way to the headlight nacelle, and I have seen them that are black where you show it. Seems the replacements from GM didn't stay the same through the years. Now, there's aftermarket, too.
By the way, the red truck has a '70 grille insert. But '69's had black headlight trim, while the 70's were shiny. Here is my '69, original grille shell/insert.

Re: 69-70 Grill difference ???
Actaully i think 69 and 70 had the black headlight rings originally. Alot get swapped out for the 71-72 stainless ones. The 69 insert is all one color, while the 70 has faint lines running up and down. As far as the lines running to the headlights, it appears gm had them both ways. Possibly later production was changed?
