New Bias Lug Tire Pictures 9.50x16.5
For all you fellow lug tires lovers, here are some pictures of my new 9.50x16.5 Specialty Tires of America Super Traxion lug tires.
Here is their link: http://www.stausaonline.com/light-tr...r-traxion.html They don't have very good pictures of the tire tread. I passed on them until I saw a picture of the tread on e-bay from this thread: http://www.67-72chevytrucks.com/vboa...d.php?t=247045 I like em better than what I thought. The picture of the truck with them on doesn't do them justice. You have to see it in person to really get a "feel" for the lugs on the tires. The tires look bigger on the truck in person than in the picture. -Roger

Re: New Bias Lug Tire Pictures 9.50x16.5
They pumped up the pressure to 60psi on the fronts! and the rears are 55 psi so on an empty truck, the right home was a bit "harsh".
After I'm sure there they are holding air, I'll air them down to 35 front 40 rear. That should help alot.... They cost about $100.00 ea. I got 6 of them. The road noise was minor. Maybe at 25 steady you can hear a hum and on corning but heck it isn't like what everyone tells you, IMHO. That truck isn't a quiet rid anyways and I didn't buy them for quietness. It's leaving for a road trip to Utah next weekend. That should give it a good break-in.

Those look tuff man. I'd like to get a set some day. Looks just like some of the old ads for the 4x's. Good purchase.

Re: New Bias Lug Tire Pictures 9.50x16.5
I had to send an e-mail to Specialty Tire of America from their website, asking who the distributors in my area where. They e-mailed me back and then called the distributor who called me. Great service!

Re: New Bias Lug Tire Pictures 9.50x16.5
Geeze, nice tires. I had no idea I could get tires like that. I went to a bunch of different stores locally and looked online. I obviously had no idea what I was doing. I really love the look of these bias tires.
Instead I'm ending up spending 829 bucks (mounted and balanced) for a set of four BFG All Terrains 33x12.5 16x5 Anyone need a set of BFGs? |

Nice! You guys give me so many ideas on how to spend my money.
Now I just need a set of factory wheels and some hubcaps! I love the look of our 4x4s with a factory hubcap.

Re: New Bias Lug Tire Pictures 9.50x16.5
Awesome tires! I have always wantyed some of these old military style tires, and I finally found them - for a 16" rim! The site below has tons of oddball bias plys tires for 16 - 16.5 - 17 -17.5 - 18 -19.5 inch rims.

Re: New Bias Lug Tire Pictures 9.50x16.5
Its great to see the old school mud and snow tires on factory period correct rims. The character of a vehicle is largely dependent on the wheel and tire combo. The commercial no frills look of a bias type tire is under represented in the vintage truck world. Many owners tend to trade off the commercial character of a vehicle for convience, personal taste and smoother ride.It is there choice of course, but over time, the original authentic look of a vehicle becomes harder and harder to find.

Here is a set of bias ply 7.50-16 mud and snow tires on a new 71 GMC 2500. It has a heavy duty commercial look to it!
