How do you put these on?

I have some NOS door edge guards to put on and I was wondering if anyone has any experience putting them on. Do you just press them on, or is there an adhesive strip? Thanks.

Chuck

Re: How do you put these on?

I think they were just pressed into place, which would explain why you don't see them on the trucks that were equipped... I think I would try to glue them on with something, not sure what I would use though.

Re: How do you put these on?

I have them on my '69 C-30 and got them off a 71 or 72 Cheyenne junker. They just push on, and stay on real good w/o any glue. I'm in brushy areas all the time, and have never had any problems. I don't see where adhesive would be a bad thing unless you ever wanted to take them off. It may bend them because they fit pretty snugly already.

Re: How do you put these on?

NOS - New Old stock - in restoration terms

NOS - Nitrous Oxide System - in "real" racer terms

NOS (pronounced NOSS) - in fast and furious/ricer terms

NOS for neat old sh*t for some of us smart ass guys too!
NOS is generally new old stock in these boards, a part that was made back in the day, and never installed on a vehicle... sat on a dealers shelf for 40 years.

The originals are still hangin tight on my Super, but the new truck needs them since it had new paint. Thanks guys.

Re: How do you put these on?

They press fit with a soft mallet or block of wood.No adhesive needed. If they are missing it`s because they got snagged and pulled away or bent because even an edge guard can`t take everything.
I put n.o.s. ones on a truck that I had painted (acrylic enamel) and it busted some of the paint off.Kinda defeats the purpose, huh?

allthrottle,nobottle,
the ONLY stupid question is the one you DON'T ask and then you try it yourself and screw something up.
by the way, in the case of furd parts, NOS means nasty old sh!t.

Re: How do you put these on?

The hard thing with these door edge guards is getting them off w/o damaging. They`re tough!

Re: How do you put these on?

Like special-K said, be very careful if you're installing them on a re-paint.

Use vaseline and tap lightly.
