power steering is stiff

untill I let the truck warm up a good while then the steerng is fine. But if I jump in the truck and need to pick up a six pack or something the darn steering is super stiff. but after 10 or fifteen minutes its smooth as always..... input please

May be the vanes in the pump sticking after it sets for awhile. Try some trans additive or some positive traction additive. This will free up the vanes in the pump.

this is true, or maybe you need to just drain and refill the p/s system. sometimes p/s fluid breaks down just like all other oils.
lucas makes a p/s additive, i have always used lucas products faithfully.

could it be his pump might not be alligned right im not quite sure...my pump was not alligned right and it was stiff when i was turning left or right but just normal driving was fine...i tightened it up and alligned it right and it solved that problem....i dont know if it oculd be related....sry about this if im wrong
