Dumb 6 or 5 lug question
Hi all I have a really dumb question. Are there certain years they used 6 lug and 5 lugs or was it a certain option or what. Yes I will probally continue to come up with these kinda questions. It just seems that I will see a truck with 5 lug and then see a truck the same year with 6 lugs.
TIA Steve ![]()

Not a dumb question.
up to (and including) 1970, they were all 6 lug, and 4 wheel drum. In '71, they went to 5 lug, and front wheel disc. I used to think it was a 'rare' option too. |

some early 71's had discs as an option and went standard later in the year. All 1/2 ton 4x4's from 67-72 were 6 lug

Acording to the restoration catalog...Single Piston Caliper disc type front brakes (as worded in the book) was standard.
I have never seen a drum brake 71. Good point on the 4X4 trucks, they were in fact always 6 (or 8) lug. |
