Flatbed suggestions/help

The frame is "clipped" on the back of my 68 and I am just going to use the truck as a toy anyway so, I want to finish trimming the frame to the rear hangers and flat bed it. I want to add a roll bar setup with spare tire carrier, basically going for the offroad "Im going to drive over you look". So here is where I come to the delema, The first pic is the look I like but, thats on a little Toyota and mine is far from little an a LWB...what can I do to make it look good???

Heres my truck as it sits:

Re: Flatbed suggestions/help

Yukon Jack's the guy to talk to. He has a sweet flat bed. Check it out in this thread http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...ad.php?t=14468
Wouldn't be too hard to use something like his for the bed & add roll bars/fender flares as needed. I've been kicking around making a flat bed too, my bed's about to fall of as it sits.

Here's a link to an album that shows lots of detailed pics of my bed - not sure if any of that will help with the type of bed you are planning.

Re: Flatbed suggestions/help

Your gonna need more lift and bigger tires to achieve the 'look' your going for.

Nother version of a Yota flat bed.

Re: Flatbed suggestions/help

My bed was made by a local flatbed fabricator, Fabtech. No longer in business though.

Re: Flatbed suggestions/help

Yukon's bed was the 1 that made me want to go flatbed in the first place but, I wont be using the truck as much for work as for play (thanks for that link to the extra pics, those will be helpful). I am starting to think that I might combine Yukon's Bed with the roll cage setup from the Toyota bed I had first posted... The problem I have...my welder died so eitehr Im going to have to buy a new 1 or have the bed built, might just be cheaper to have it built.
