Approx. how many spot welds and where are they located to remove a dash. Also what about the bolts.
Thanks

The exact number of spot welds holding the dash in should be 34 and there should be 4 to 6 bolts also. 2 or 3 bolts per side.

3 bolts, 1/2" heads each side. When I pull the dash I have used a saws-all and cut it at the outer window gasket edge. I haven't had to put one in yet so I never bothered with the spot welds.

3 bolts per side is correct, plus the two bolts on the bottom that go into the steering shaft support. The pinch welds are just along the windshield. A sawsall is the only way I can see to get it out.

You can use a spot weld cutter. This is a drill bit that looks like a small hole cutter, and it fits into any drill. Goto your local body and paint supply store to get one. Should be around $30. then all you have to do is locate each spotweld, center punch the middle to keep the bit from traveling. You will cut from the outside, or the windshield side, that way when you have a new dash to put in, you already have the small holes that you can use to weld and fill to the new dash.

cutting
I have also seen people cut the dash at the slots under the dash pad and then reweld it up. You dont see it once the dash pad is put back on. It is alot faster.....

spot weld removers
I have a set try 100 from my friendly Snap-On man. It has 7 different sizes. The good thing by buying from Snap On it will add to my total for the year wich will get written off on next years taxes.
