Aluminum Plate Under Carb?
Do any of you guys know what this is from or off of?
It is on a relatively low mileage all original '70 C-10. It is stamped with the firing order and part number 3973231 which is close to the LT1 intake manifold numbers. Look familiar at all? Anybody have a part number cross reference book? I guess I need to take it off to get the part number off of the manifold itself too... Thanks |

Re: Aluminum Plate Under Carb?
welcome to the 67-72 Chevy Truck board from West Michigan!
The plate looks like an aftermarket aluminum plate that was installed to help keep the carb cooler. My guess is the firing order was stamped onto the plate since the firing order was covered up with the plate installed. Jim

Re: Aluminum Plate Under Carb?
That is a GM part. It should have a part number stamped into it. It keeps the heat of the manifold off the carb.

Re: Aluminum Plate Under Carb?
It does, part number 3973231. I know that "397" numbers like that are
usually found on '70 Z/28's with the LT1, etc. Could this be off of that or could it possibly be correct for a '70 truck? Maybe I had better see if a magnet sticks to the manifold under the plate or not... |
