Re: c20 to c10 conversion HELP

Probably the most straightfoward way that a lot of guys are doing, is to pull the saddle (complete with arms/spindles, & linkage) from a 73-up 1/2 ton & bolt it under your truck. My understanding with this swap, is that there are a couple bolt holes on ea side of the frame that need to be modified ......otherwise a pretty much bolt in deal. crazyL

Re: c20 to c10 conversion HELP

I am currently doing doing the same thing to my c20, and what I did is I got a set of stock spindles of a 1981 c10 and I am going to order a new set of lower control arms. My hole setup will be my 1970 crossmenber, 70 upper control arms, 81 spinldes, 81 lower control arms, 81 sway bar and tie rod ends, 81 idler arm and braket (the braket was identical to my 70 version) and 70 steering box and pitman arm. I know that sound like a cluster F$$$ but I payed $50 for all the 81 stuff. The best way is like what CL said if you can find one that isnt rotted away, I live in centrel IA so that is alot easier said then done.

I did mine pretty much like you have done yours(yrs ago when some of the older parts were still around). I used the stock 69-3/4 upper arms,(swapped ball joints) went 71 1/2 ton lowers, & pealed the spindles & all linkage from a 75 1/2 ton. The steering box came from an 84 Burb, & IIRC, so did the pitman. Im in Illinios, so I do totally understand about rotted parts crazyL
