Wierd Key in fender - 66 panel

I already asked Dino what it was, he says security key; but I haven't been able to find any other information, anybody else have any? The truck didnt come with keys, so I have no clue.. here's a pic of the location:

Not a stock option. Looks like something added by a previous owner. What is on the backside? Is it accessible by taking of the cowl extension?

Sorry to hear about the impounding. I would have never guessed the alarm key. BTW the paint around it is interesting.......Let's see a picture of the whole truck.

Re: Wierd Key in fender - 66 panel

yes early alarm system commonly refered to as a "chapman lock" sort of a generic term back then

Sure it wasn't a COIN operated truck? Use the key to open the fender and take out the change........

Re: Wierd Key in fender - 66 panel

It cracks me up to see the before paint scheme.......I am always surprised to see what POs do to these beutiful trucks. You have to ask yourself what the people were thinking when they decided to paint the truck lime green, white, gray, brown camo.

Re: Wierd Key in fender - 66 panel

it originally was a white truck from the factory; the lime green and astroturf "hair" was, i figure, a result of its era.. lol.. the camo, probably more someone bored as hell, and had kids that wanted to join in. It's now complete with bass (the fish) sticker on the driver door. lol
