If you think of what a converter really does...it gets interesting.
When the converer is stalling it is multiplying torque, by as much as 2 to 1. On my truck it stalls to6500 rpm and I shift at 7200. The basic rule of thumb is for a th400 tranny have the stall set at max torque and for a glide about 400 rpm over max torque. It's been my experience you can't over stall a drag ride. Also the converter is the one place not to cheap out. A good converter can out perform a cheap one by a full second in ET
