anyone know where to find a good rear trans mount. mine is broken, i have found alot of them but all are to thin, i am told i have the heavy duty one that is thicker between the trans and transfere case. but where do you find them, and did latter models have the same by chance, any help is always appreciated .i guess what i was trying to say is i need the mount that goes from the trans to transfere case to trans mount. looks like it is cast iron.

I got mine for my previous blazer at the 4 wheel parts store. They were the red energy suspension mounts - (http://www.energysuspensionparts.com...s.asp?cat=2641)

Good site Bouncy, wish I would have known sooner could have saved a buck or two...

If you buy the torque mounts be careful of the sleeve ID, mine were wrong and they think our bolts are 5/8". I believe you want sleeve number 60928....J.

What you're looking for is the adapter. I'd post a "wanted to buy" thread on the parts board.

im not quite sure on transfere case but the trans is a 350. like i also said i have found a few different addapters, but they are all to thin between the trans and the transfere case. is there a tag or part number some where on the case i could find. thanks again.

Wierd, never heard of a thick or thin adaptor. Does your transfer case look like mine, if it does than its a NP205. I have 2 NP 205's and they both have the same thickness adapter, maybe someone else can chime in to clarify your situation and get you on the right path.

Don't know what they are going for, but -Greg has a complete setup for $200.00 in NH for sale on the classifieds

I'll look for a number....

If the transfer case is stock, it is probably a NP205. The little round plate in the middle of jaros44sr's is the easiest way to tell if it is a NP205. The NP203 looks similar, so look closely.

What happened the the adapter that was in the truck?

Im Not The Final Word But To The Best Of My Knowledge A Np 205 Is The Same No Matter What, And A Turbo 350 Tranny For A 4x4 Is The Same Even If It Is A 3/4 Ton Or 1 Ton Im Not Aware Of Any Diff Adaptor ,at One Time One Of The Big Three Used A Seperate 205 With A Short Shaft In Between Tranny And T Case Maybe You Have A 700 R 4 Or Something ??

i will look again tonight at the transfere case to see if it has a tag on it. local trans shop is where i was going to buy the mount. but when i showed up with the truck before buying i rolled under the truck to see there was no way i was going to be able to use the mount he was trying to sell me. and for some reason i am thinking he said it was a 205 case, the mount he had was for a 203 or 204 if that sounds right. possibly because the 205 was gear to gear, anyways i still need one.

205 is a gear driven case. (stock)
Dana20 is a gear driven case, but smaller than the 205 (stock behind 3 speed)
203 is a full-time 4wd chain driven case (often converted to part-time - Mid to late 70's)
208 is aluminum (newer model t-case0

The trans has to be set up for four wheel drive you can't just use any 350 or 400 trans. I went through this when I did mine. If yours isn't set up it will cost quite a bit to change If you have the right trans and transfer case you might try ebay for the adapter. Just type np 205

Wonder why I don't have one of those fancy gear drives on my speedo cable?? I wouldn't thro that adapter out if the only thing wrong with it is the threads for the shifter...J

Yep, yer rite! Casting number is 0-99481, altho you had a 'c' in your pm, I think it's a '0'. Thanks for telling me where it was located, saved alot of searching...J.

found the casting number on adapter, it is c-99841.for some reason i cannot post answers from home computer. and is a 205 case. so im on the look, if you now of one or location of one let me now please, thanks scott

I believe the adapters are different for an automatic and a 4-speed. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I have heard stuff about the speedo geardrives, stock or not, nessasary or not---all I know it has been on this truck since 1971 (the year my Mom bought it).

If you look closer to the pic, there is more problems than damaged threads.

The shifter bolt had broken off on my Mom in the early 80's while I was working construction with no chance to get home to fix it for her. I recommended a shop for repair and 25 years later I find this is the kind of work they did. It would not go into 4 lo like this but she didn't know as she never used that gear.

When I took off the shifter a year ago, in the factory hole was most of the broken bolt. Then they tried to drill it out, but the drill went off to the side about half. Then they tried to tap it and broke an inch long piece of the tap off leaving it for me to find. To top it off they drilled another hole that finally was able to be tapped way off center.

I asked a friend that has a small machine shop about milling a hole the right size as the pivot part of the shifter bolt(5/8 if I remember right) so it would eliminate the bolt that necks down to 3/8 at the threads. He said it may be possible but I need to get it to him to be sure.
