I'm sending this back to the top, with added questions. If I want to replace the 4.3 in my '96 with a 350 (aka 5.7) and I already have an AOD gearbox, will the computer that is in the body accept the replacement engine or should I just look at going to a carbureted setup and forget the computer? The problem is that there's a buncha stuff on these OBDII vehicles that the computer controls, so nixing the electronics really isn't doable.

I like my truck, but a V-8 would be nicer.

Anybody ever made that trade?
