buddy bucket exchange -

So, there's a guy doing some work in the office, and he's got a '68 GMC Sierra Grande with a utility bed on it, and it has buddy buckets. I'm pretty sure they're original, but a little beat up. He's willing to trade me for my regular bench seat in my '67, which is in decent shape. What do you think? Would they bolt right in? I'm gonna have to remove them. Here's a couple pictures of his seat. I'm wondering if the bolt pattern is the same.

Re: uddy bucket exchange -

Mounting is identical. If you are not interested...I will drive down there tomorrow and give him a brand new bench seat for a set of those buckets. Ask him what color he would like me to bring!!!!!!!!!!

I'll give him two bench seats for those. Sounds like a great deal.

O.K. - I'm taking my truck over there tomorrow, and he's gonna look at my seat, and he says he can drop of his truck at my house, and I can make the trade. Thanks for the advice.

Thumbs up Re: uddy bucket exchange -

i did the exact same swap. my next door neighbor was moving and her brother was helping her with his 67 GMC with buddy buckets. drivers side bottom was a little rough so i offered a decent bench plus some cash for them. he said if i'd swap them and give him a seat in better shape than his, i could have the buckets for free. needless to say, it took me a short time to swap them out.
GO FOR IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: uddy bucket exchange -

Heck, I have a running, driving (kinda) truck worth less than those seats!
Jump on it!

And, don't feel bad for him. If your seat is original, it's a tip forward bench...quite respectable in it's own rite. If he doesn't care if it's hinged, go look for a later model Nice bench seat for him.

They are a not-so-common (I avoid the word "rare") option for the '67 & '68 model years only. The most attractive part of them is the fold-down center section that acts as an arm rest most of the time, but can be flipped up to accomodate a 3rd. person. This is opposed to the 69-72 buckets with full-time consoles that can only accomodate 2 people.

Re: buddy bucket exchange -

Also, it appears that they are made of foam and can be modified a little more to make them more comfortable, which is what I plan to do. I'm gonna trade him in a couple of weeks because we'll both be busy, and it's never a done deal until it's a done deal, but it's as close as you can get for now, so I'm pretty excited about it. BTW, it's got camper special badges on the doors, and I can't read the badges on the fenders, but it looks to be the top of the line truck. It also has the original wheel covers, which is a little unusual.

Dont forget that the bottom of the buddy bucket is a console for storage.

The top flips up for the 3rd seat; fold it down for a pass/driver arm rest, & lift up the middle seat to access the storage area.

Re: buddy bucket exchange -

Dan-42 don't forget to get the bracket that attaches right above the gas tank that the buddy seat rests on when its in the upright position.
