Looking for vendor selling shift lever & other column parts

Have a '69 C20/TH400 with non-tilt column/column shift. Was shifting into 'park' yesterday, and when I pulled the shift lever toward me so it could slide into position, the ball on the end (inside the column end) broke off completely (see pic). I'm sure this is nothing new, but I'm having trouble finding someone that sells another shift lever for this sucker. I am using a screwdriver right now, but would like to order a new lever today so that I can put the screwdriver back into my toolbox where it belongs Anyone recommend a vendor? I also would like to replace the bearing that sits just inside of the steering wheel, as well as the rubber o-ring and plastic cap that sit around the main shaft inside of the housing (housing that houses the blinker mechanism/etc.). Any input would be much appreciated!

Many of the vendors offer the lever for sale, but the yellow looking thing on the end is called an anti-rattle bushing. It is still available from GM, but most dealers will only sell it in a package quantity of 10. You might try Wes @ Classic Heartbeat ( a board vendor) for that item. He was trying to get me one.

Good luck!

Re: Looking for vendor selling shift lever & other column parts

I was planning on just reusing the old bushing... Ended up buying the lever from Paul's GMC for $20. Cheapest I could find in a yard around here was $35 after haggling (rediculous). Thanks for the help. Looks like the grease in the column has all petrified over the (many) years, so I'll just clean the whole column out and relube when I put it back together. Planning on using hi temp red bearing grease for inner shaft and linkage parts to tranny, and white lithium greas for all blinker/ moving pieces just behind the wheel. Whadya think??

Re: Looking for vendor selling shift lever & other column parts

Also, has anyone done any sort of writeup about sleaning out the column? If there is, maybe someone could point me to it or provide a link. If not, maybe I'll take alot of pictures and do my own write up when I get the part... Thanks,

Re: Looking for vendor selling shift lever & other column parts

L.M.C. has most of those parts. They are pretty easy to rebuild unless it,s a tilt. Often you can spray some lube in the hole the lever came out & remove 2 of the 1/4 in bolts (7/16 wrench) one above & one bellow the opening the lever comes out, down on the lower part & spray some lube in there. If you tear it down it,s a good idea to replace the shift tube. It is expensive but the replacement has better lockouts & more positive park position.
