WTB: NV4500 5 speed 4x4 complete
As the title says, looking for a complete set up for customers '68 K-20. Would have been installed in 95-99 3/4T and 1T chevy trucks. I thought I had one found in the 88-98 forum, but the person has not given me contact info to complete the deal. Thanks
Mike

Re: WTB: NV4500 5 speed 4x4 complete
earl87gta found one of those trannies on one of the 4x4 boards, not ours, and I went up to Kansas and picked it up for him last year. You might have to try there too.

Re: WTB: NV4500 5 speed 4x4 complete
The trans is complete and in working order, I bought it for a 4X4 project with the intent to pull the tail housing and swap the out put ($200) for parts and labor vs. paying $1200-1400 for a 4X4 unit. LMK I can get picts.

Re: WTB: NV4500 5 speed 4x4 complete
I'd like to do this conc=version too... Any suggestions fo adapting an 85 NP208 to the NV4500?
Its a 72 K10 currently with an 85 SM465. Not took high on the wish list but its there. The PO said the diff gears were about 3.55 but I haven't attempted to check. Currently there are 33" tires on the truck with a couple inches of lift. Sorry to thread-jack... |

$650? Not sure of mileage, but fluid is clean and no metal in it and the gears move nice and smooth? LMK

Re: WTB: NV4500 5 speed 4x4 complete
If its a long bed you may be better off to do what I did use a 2wd trans and a devorced transfer case it made life easier and it will fix all my front drive line issues with my big lift. Plus if for some reason my trans gets blown up I can aways swap any thing in its place while it is geting rebuilt. The NV 4500 I used came out of a 1ton chassis truck and it had an vn4500 with the emergancy brake on the trans taill shaft wich was great it is alowing me to use regular 3/4 ton calipers on my rear disk swap insted of the expencive elderodo calipers.
Foe a bell housing you may want to check out advance adaptors they saell one with the cluch fork on the driver side some guys have had problems with the clutch getting in the way of the drive line when doing this convertion if he has a big enough lift may not be a problem.

That trans of mine has the brake on it (the round thing at the rear of trans in pict). LMK I might actually get around to using this if you don't want it?

That's not a brake, it's a vibration dampener. I've got 2 trans just like that one in the shop too. Tried to call ya Sat, Musclerodz. Got the answering machine and left a message.....but forgot to tell ya what the subject was.... I told ya I have the worlds worst memory....

Re: WTB: NV4500 5 speed 4x4 complete
The one I have is a break it looks just like a drum break with a lever on the side to engage it and it takes to break pads. you can see it here http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=244793 They came with and with out the breaks depending on the truck.

Ya learn something new everyday. I wondered how that was supposed to work (PO told me it was the park brake).

Understandable. That's what I thought it was when I first seen one.

Re: WTB: NV4500 5 speed 4x4 complete
Here's some pics of my greaseball Mike.
I'll get the top cover ripped off and take some more pics of the internals asap. Looks like I should've did it yesterday morning! It was 50 degrees here then, and by last night it was 5! brrrr... Yea, that's snow blowin under my shop door... I'll get it cleaned up some before I take the top cover off. I'll get some pics of the bellhousing today sometime too.

Still need to take it to the carwash, but I did get the top removed and thiese pics;
Turned it by hand and ran it through all the gears. Everything looks and feels fine.

Yeah, I hear ya there, but that's what you get when you deal on message boards. Have you tried one of the national auto-wreckers type networks? I would imagine you could have what you are apparently in a hurry for within a few days without hassle.
