Help Missing Steering Column Part
My assembly manual shows a rubber cushion that goes between the "u" bracket and the column its self. I have looked every where online and have not been able to come up with it yet. It is available?? I hate working on a truck with out a donor truck....The part in question is labled #1 in the scan below...

Re: Help Missing Steering Column Part
I have never seen a "cushion" on any of the 67-72 1/2 ton, 3/4 ton trucks.
Are you sure that picture applies to our trucks? The floor mount is different on the column and the floor is made differently. Do you have a larger truck? Jim

Re: Help Missing Steering Column Part
there is a rubber grommet thing that goes on the column at that location on 71-72 half and 3/4trucks i think the earlier ones have it too// if you look in lmc catalogue in the dash cluster section it is illustrated

Re: Help Missing Steering Column Part
I believe that picture is of a C-40/50/60 steering column. They are a different angle than a pickup truck, and I think they had a cushion. The pickups just had the grommet where the column comes through the instrument cluster, as the others have pointed out here.

Re: Help Missing Steering Column Part
This may sound stupid but is there a "U" bracket then or just the flat bracket that bolts to the brake pedal assembly..

Re: Help Missing Steering Column Part
I have never seen a cushion other than the one used to fill hole between column and dash bezel. 1/2-1 ton trucks only have the metal u- strap held by two 5/16" bolts, then the metal flat plate with bumper for brakes and or clutch stop. No cushion. You could cut a strip of rubber inner tube or some thing if you like to put over the u-strap but you don't need it.

Re: Help Missing Steering Column Part
Looks like a C40-C60 series thing, look at where the column meets the firewall it is supported by 3 bolts on the flange instead of 2.
