How to install in intake?
Quote:
I searched engine& drive train and this forum. The information I found has me concerned…..I have a felpro 1205 gasket, is it ok to use? I’m putting on a Edelbrock intake and only want to do this once! I plan on using ultra gray on the intake ends (in lieu of the rubber) and also on the bolts. Can I use Teflon paste on the bolts? I’ll probably find torque info in my shop manual or Google. s/t

Re: How to install in intake?
I used a stock gasket with alum intake with no problems and I just use ultra black for everything else, ultra gray is about same just rated for imports

Re: How to install in intake?
I put a Edelbrock aluminum intake on my cast iron vortec heads using GM gaskets for a Vortec motor (I work at a dealer) You can use Teflon on bolts that need sealing. But I am a FIRM believer in proper torque on the bolts.

Re: How to install in intake?
When I did mine I didn't put any sealant on the bolts, but none of them had leaked before either. I used Ultra Black on the ends; I don't have any experience with the grey. Just make sure you lay a fat bead and torque the bolts in sequence. IIRC the torque is 35 ft. lbs. I'd check to be sure, though. Also, re-check the torque after a day or so. Mine always seemed to loosen up a bit after they got hot.

Re: How to install in intake?
Agreed with the re-tightening---I had a 375hp-396 years ago in a 69 Z-28 camaro (of course not stock motor) I had to re-tighten the intake about every 1000 miles sometimes 1/4 1/2 turn per bolt

Re: How to install in intake?
does my felpro gasket sound like it will work? It's a 1205.
I wonder if a lock washer will help keep it tight. s/t

Re: How to install in intake?
iirc use teflon liquid tape on the inner 4 bolts on each bank. Also the ultra around the end water jackets.. check out my engine thread for some pics and some help from others when I did mine.. holding up great.. no problems
