Booster Pedal Rod

I checked site vendors and a few parts books. Adding a brake booster and I need to find the rod that goes from the brake pedal to the booster bracket? Any ideas? I suppose junk yards, parting out trucks will be my next step.

Re: Booster Pedal Rod

I got mine at a junkyard. Remember there is a difference between a 1/2 ton and a 3/4 ton.

Re: Booster Pedal Rod

I went through Voc Rehab here in Nebraska. They had me take the truck to the local dealer to have it fixed (well at least the parts that they deemed neccessary to fix) After they replaced the master cylinder (Which I had already replaced a month earlier) they figured out that the PO that converted the truck to power brakes had not installed the longer booster rod.
Make a long story short, they installed a piece of "ready" rod so that the brake pedal will actuate the booster and give me brakes. While this isnt a "permanent" fix only temporary, maybe this COULD help ya out abit till you can find the correct pedal assembly. That is assuming that your truck is on the road, if not then this post is a mute point.

Re: Booster Pedal Rod

Automatic or manual trans? The reason I ask is because I did that change on my 68 GMC and other than the brake pedal being lower than the clutch pedal by about 1 1/2 inch it's worked fine. I did adjust the rod out as far as I could.

I have also have been looking for a longer rod but if I don't find it, I'm going to weld and extension to mine.

Re: Booster Pedal Rod

Auto, 71
The rod I have is for just the master so it has a rounded end that went into the master cup. I suppose I could weld a eye on the end that would fit the bracket.
