Dana 44
I've got a 76 Dodge with the good old Full Time 4x4 Dana 44 front end, and I'm having one hell of a time finding good quality disc brake rotors?? (the last set I purchased were warped and pulling after 25,000 miles). Does anyone know who makes decent aftermarket parts for these axles? Chrysler corp doesn't have anymore NOS rotors, in their computer system.
Maybe off chance someone has a cross reference number. To a GM part. There is not a huge following or aftermarket for these trucks yet.

HMM an 8 lug dana 44? Dodge you say. I have a hard time beleiving that it uses a different brake rotor than the chevy? I bought some cheepies (four of them actually) for my 3/4ton chevy for $23 a peice at kragen and so far so good but I dont have that many miles on them yet. I would check with a quality brake shop and talk to the manager or something, only they will know. Its hard to tell if youre getting the same thing at autozone, kragen, napa, etc. they all look the same and come in the same damn box.
if you want to see some thing really cool and interesting, check out cryogenic treatment of brake rotors.. do a google search or something. Might be worth the $$ if youre having serious problems and are in it for the long run..... mike |
