Are 6 lugs longer then the 5 lugs?
A friend of mine was wanting to change axles from his sons truck and wanted to use the 5 lug axles out of a parts truck i have here and he said that the 6 lug was about 3/8 of an inch longer then the 5 lug.Does this sound about right or could one of them had a rear end swap in the past? thanx for the help.

Boss... that's about right, 3/8 inch per side.
The wide axle was started sometime early/mid 70, but still has the 6 lug. |

They say you can use 73' up drums that are wider to remedy this. |

Re: Are 6 lugs longer then the 5 lugs?
I just reread the post (Boss) are you refering to the stud length being longer? or axle lengths?

I think it sould be just the opposite, 6 lugs should be the shorter one http://www.kabele.com/axleshaftsgm.htm |

Re: Are 6 lugs longer then the 5 lugs?
6 lugs are shorter. There was a thread in here a few weeks ago on ho he used the 70 6 lug because it was more narrow and he didnt have to adjust to much on the back space on his new wheels.
