5.3l swap gas tank options
Hello guys,
I thinking of doing a swap to a 5.3l out of a late model silverado. What options do I have for the fuel system? I have seen the ece underbed fuel cell. I like it, but it is kind of pricey. Does anybody know of a cheaper one? Can you modify a regular blazer tank for a in tank efi setup? I want to do something that is safe and cost effective at the same time. By the way here is a pic of the 68 I will be putting it in. Thanks!! |

Re: 5.3l swap gas tank options
I'm going to use a gas tank and pump from a 2000 T/A that I'm getting from a friend for $50. I saw a picture of one mounted in the frame of our pickups on here. This person turned it around so the filler neck was on the pass. side. I don't have it yet, so I can't comment on how well if fits, but that's the plan right now.

Re: 5.3l swap gas tank options
I just used an external pump as close to teh tank as I could get. Oh yea I did the plastic blazer tank upgrade so it is located in the rear. This is probably one of the cheaper ways to do this it may not be the best tho I wish I had an intake pump but mine works with no problems.

Please see this thread: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...&postcount=125
And this thread: http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=370781 The first thread is a link to every member I know who has a GenIII (4.8/5.3/5.7/6.0L) buildup thread as of 3-4 months ago. The second link is to my 12+ page buildup thread over at LS1tech. With all of these links, you should be able to identify several possibilities for tanks you can use. Good luck. It's an easy swap, but can get pricey. If you go automatic, I feel it is 1000 times easier.

Re: 5.3l swap gas tank options
do you still have the pic of the 2000 TA tank installed in the frame?
You said it was flipped around so the filler neck was on the passenger side. would you put gas in it through the side of the bed? |
