The motor is a 422 sbc all luniti 671 blower 850 carbs running 2% over with a 400 tranny! The rear ia a home built rear housing with 457 strange gears and axles and brakes and ladder bars had all the parts dip in nickel. I back-half the frame box the rest of the frame and made the front crossmember but bought the upper and lower arms from JW street rods. set the fire wall 1-1/2" back Cut all the drip molding off made wheel tubs that was computer bent. Have a coven carbon dash 10 point cage, ididit stearing, ron frances wireing, fuel cell in bed 33-18.5 mickeys 15x14 torque thrust rims msd ignition Be cool rad

Re: Alright drag race guys
My drag truck is under construction....I'll be putting in the engine/tranny and everything else. It might make it to the track in 2010.
Oh, and I raced my 72 GMC with leaf springs.....wheel hopped liked an SOB and broke the rear u-joint......so I'm not even racing it. In the mean time I'm "forced" to race my corvette. I'm going to do a little more weight reduction (remove air pump, lighter battery, and remove pass. seat) and tuning. The race weight should be <3000 lbs . I'm trying to get into the 11s with the stock cam (basically just exhaust and intake mods)

Re: Alright drag race guys
71Rat, that motor in that truck looks like a diamond in the rough I like it!
I'm hoping to go high 12s with a 150 or 200 shot on my 5.3L Vortec. If not, I'll just keep spraying more an more until I get there, or until something pops. 5.3 shortblocks are cheap and a dime a dozen

nitrofn; I've moved you up to to hero statis. That truck is going to be awsome, I don't think I'd want to line up against you. It could end up as the fastest 67-72 of all time. Thanks for sharing. JOHN

I also have a PILE of PARTS that I am collecting on a regular basis. For all you "warm-weather states" that's what we do here in the Winter. I just started putting my hot rod/'60's gasser-look truck 2gether last Fall. Got it ('70 shorty stepside) off my nephew who started fixing it up to be a "cruiser" and has already got the suspension dropped 3" in the front & 5" in the rear and has the undercarrige cleaned up and installed new brake, lines, etc. At first I was just going to continue his project as planned.... then all it took was ONE TRIP to the drag strip (Pittsburgh Raceway Park) and my "drag racing juices started flowing again BIG-TIME. Check out the avatar pic.... it's a truck I saw at the strip that weekend and I haven't been the same since....HA!!! Plans so far.... pulling out the 305ci engine that's in the truck now & replacing it with a 350-4 bolt..... 383 stroker kit..... roller cam, lifters & rockers... Performer RPM Air-Gap, etc, etc. I got a break and was able to buy a one piece fiberglass front end & rear suspension kit. I also have fiberglass rear fenders and plan to gut the interior and install a full cage and continue to lighten up the truck anyway I can without taking away it's ability to be "street-driven" to the local shows & cruises ocassionally. Still trying to decide what to do with the front suspension to get the "gasser stance" .... still kicking around the possibility of a "straight front axle" or a "trick" coil over that would give me the option to raise the front end up or down when need be. So???????????? Lots of time yet!!!!! I would also LOVE to find a "FIBERGLASS BUMPER" .... For some reason the US BODY WORKS "fiberglass front end with cowl induction" does NOT have a roll pan so the area from fender to fender is open and needing either a bumper or ROLL PAN. Either way I'm NOT going to use a steel bumper for sure. As I am writing this the wind is howling and it's pouring down rain ....cold weather & snow are on the way. Winter will be back in a few HOURS!!!! So still plenty of time for parts chasing, swap meets and of course "Day Dreaming" about my hot rod C10 gasser. LATER....

Re: Alright drag race guys
I pulled a 1.6 60ft. with trailering arms and coilsprings with kyb shocks and hardly no weight savings other than ac stuff. I'm also looking to save weight, like fiberglass chrome plated bumpers. 431 big block 684hp.

Re: Alright drag race guys
the company that made my glass stuff I think is out of business. You might want to try to check on this, I would think that someone would have bought their molds. It was Creative Glassworks in Oneita, Tn If you find out they are around I wouldn't mind a glass front bumper my self and I know there are companies that can chrome glass.

Re: Alright drag race guys
Lookin' at the paint combo, and I realize it's preparatory, made me think of a Cop-themed race truck....emblem, blue lights behind the windshield.....you know the drill. For those who may be interested, Central Arkansas has not had a drag strip in many years. In Benton, the old airport has about 3700-ft that is about to become a new drag strip. The plan is for Friday night/Saturday racing. It will be exciting to see this come to fruition.

Re: Alright drag race guys
In another post somewhere one this forum I made mention of my experiences with US BODY WORKS..... being I had purchased some fenders from them recently I thought they would be able to help me find parts for the one piece front end I recently purchased from another member of this website.
NO GO!!! They will not sell "anything" other than what is purchased initally through them..... NO installations instructions, no brackets, cowl induction plate, roll pan.....nada!!!! Gotta buy the whole thing!!! STUPID. So much for customer service. Needless to say I am not very happy. Guess I'll just have to make the brackets, etc..... their products are really nice and the fiberglass frontend I have is quality work but standing behind and servicing their products should also be a priority for them (customer service).

Re: Alright drag race guys
WoW...wOw.... Love EVERYTHING you've done to your C10... great stance, MORE than great motor.... maxed out suspension for "every-need" right down to a great RED paint job.
It seems like forever until I'll have the time & money to get ours going. Counting the days until the weather breaks so I can get going on the "roof chop" and setting in the roll cage. We have so may ideas for this project that the list seems endless as it"s going to take to get it done... HA!! BTW Nitro... is that a '40 Chevy couple in the background of one of those pics of yours????

Projects, no matter how great the plans or how great finished project do have a way of "dragging on". Sometimes it's like "what am I doing this for anyway"?????? It happens to us often..... especially this time of year in the north east.... "cabin fever" caused by too much Winter weather. Is it Spring yet?? Let us know how the "fire up goes".... the truck looks like I could hear it from HERE!!!!

Re: Alright drag race guys
what's all done to the muncie......... currently its destroyed, lol. lasted a few years but eventually i had destruction. all in one pass i broke the trans (front bearing retainer ripped out, broke an ear on the case, ruined the input gear and cluster gear) and the rear end. it broke the ring gear, and twisted the housing where the tubes go into the center section and broke the perch. time for some improvements. can't complain too much though it took a few years of abuse to do it. Dev.
