Welding question..
When welding sheet metal which size of wire would be recommended? .020, .030? Does wire size make a big difference in the settings on the machine?
Is it easier to weld sheet with smaller wire(less heat?)? I have a handler 130 mig welder and am going to get busy, just have a few??? Thanks, Rob |

Re: Welding question..
Your best bet is the thinner wire, larger wire diamater means more heat to melt it, more heat means more possibility of welding. Also you need to be aware with your welder, it is a smaller welder and has a lower duty cycle.
The thing is if you run it too long it will not produce the same voltage (a mig welder is a CV or Constant Voltage machine), when the voltage starts to fluctuate you will get bad welds. Also id get some old body pannels from a body shop in your area and cut them up and practice on them so as that you can get it down pat before you start welding on somthing you really want to keep. Wire feed welding is about the easiest process to learn, pay attention to what wire speed you need for what heat setting, and play around with it some, then you will get it all figured out.
