Another way of doing a watts....

I saw this on another board. Seems like guys are always trying to figure out how to do a watts style linkage on a 10/12/14bolt style diff with a cover, why not do something like this? Wouldnt it work just the same? Less to engineer around since it doesnt mount off of the center of the rear end, normally where the cover is.

looks nice would like more pics of the set up...but looks like it would be stronger than one that used the cover bolts to mount up

That's actually the way a Watt's link is supposed to be set-up. What most people are familiar with is a modified version that has been developed to bolt-on.

The rear roll center is located at the center of the watt's pivot... making it desireable to have that location on a fixed part of the chassis vs. the differential.

As mentioned... seems easier to have it set-up this way as well...

So the watts 'mount' is fixed w/the frame & the links are attached to the top (one side) & bottom (other side) of the rear housing/suspension.

That way, when the suspension goes through its travel the roll center doesn't migrate as much as it would IF it were attached to the differential.
