making 1 out of 3
tell me what u think!
dad needs a ride, filled chapter 7, today lives in mass.my brother and i live in chicago. were going out next weekend to build dad a daily driver truck. what he has : 63 chevy lwb 2wd......bad v6 motor. 85 chevy lwb 2wd .....bad motor, front cross member rusted 87 jimmy 4wd...........body to rusted for inspection. my plan is to use the very solid cab and front clip of the 85 install onto the 87 and use wood for a bed! issues are just the rear cab mounts vs the jimmys frame and under dash tbi wiring harness vs the carbed 85 . keep in mind that 85 does not need inspections. was looking for a front cross member, can not find one that is solid out there. up for options on a 2 day build, lets see what you can come up with

Re: making 1 out of 3
Whats wrong with the 63 besides the motor? Might be better off puttin the 87 drivetrain in it. besides those 60's trucks have some nice bodylines. just a thought.

Re: making 1 out of 3
change of plans using the 63 body, 85 trans and drive shaft and 87 engine with an adapter for a 2 brl carb i made last night, shipped it out today hope fully it gets there before we do. this is going to be a real budget build! now its turned in to a comp just to see how cheap we can go. i say under 75$ just for fluids, well see this weekend, built in just 2 days!

Re: making 1 out of 3
It seemed to me that a drivetrain swap would work out better than trying to swap cabs and front clips. good luck on your build, I don't know about that $75 estimate might be a little more might need a driveshaft adjustment or a differant one. Won't know until you get the engine and tranny in. Hope everything works out for you and all you need is fluids. It sounds like you have alot of parts options, hopfully you'll have everything you need.
