Need Wheel Advice
I found a guy who has some 22" wheels and tires that he wants to trade for some stock wheels and some cash. The ad says their 5 on 5 wheels with no mention of backspacing. He shows a picture and it appears they're mounted on a Chevy truck made I'm thinking mid '80s early '90s.
I'm trying to work a deal with him, but am curious about how these 22" wheels are going to look on our truck. '72 GMC Stepside. Can you guys take a look at this picture (if I can get it posted) and give me some pointers and opinions? What should I check or look for? Is backspacing going to be an issue? Will I have enough room for these? General opinions on the wheel? |

Re: Need Wheel Advice
Not quite my taste... but to each their own.
BS is always a factor. If it were me, I would see if he would let you mount at least one wheel on the truck to see if you feel it will work on the truck, plus it will give you a better idea of how the truck will look with the wheels on it. You might post this also in the Photoshop portion of the board, and someone will be able to put those wheels on your truck.

Re: Need Wheel Advice
Definitely mount them on the front and on the back to make sure. When I ordered my 22" Eagle 026s they didn't fit the back. The truck was on the lift and when i dropped it down they tucked so much the bed actually RESTED on top of the tires. I had to buy 6 lug to 6 lug adapters to space them out another inch and a half.

I figure if he likes them then it's kinda like me letting him grow his hair a little longer than I like. I won't let it get too long, but still it keeps him from looking like the nerd in the class and makes him feel cool. I'll let him have these wheels, but if he wants to wrap the steering wheel in sheep skin and chop the frame and lower it to the ground, I'll have to nix that. |
