Tell me about keys and locks
I saw where Jerry Moss was looking for tool box door locks and keys.
Made me wonder how many locks there are and how many keys also. I just picked up a truck with a locking glovebox. How common is that? Locking factory gascaps? And do each take an individual key or which are keyed with the ignition, doors and so forth?

As soon as I receive it in the US Mail, I will be the proud owner of a '69 Data Manual. When I have it, I expect to be able to decipher all of the "codes" we have available to us. So, if a locking gas cap was an option from the factory, it should be listed in the data book.
I have also found a complete set of parts books (numbers and illustrations) for the 67-72 trucks. It also has VIN number decoding, etc. I enjoy looking at stuff like that...so, I gotta be weird. But, that is what I like to do when it's cold outside and I don't have any money to spend on my truck. It was very helpful to me when I had my '67 Firebird, to have the Pontiac parts manuals that referenced them. I still have 'em, too. Heck, I might even sell them......if my wife didn't throw them out! Don't hold me to that, though. You can't sell, what you can't find.

Sorry guys, let me be more clear. I do not have a locking gascap.
I am wondering how many different locks these trucks could have and how many different keys. Or are they keyed in groups? Is there such a thing as a locking cap? Guess you answered that one. I see where Jerry says the toolbox doors are a seperate key. I have yet to get the key to the truck I just bought, so I wondered if the ignition and glovebox and doors used one key. Is the toobox key round head or square, GM or other?
