Hood to Cowl Seal
Howdy everyone. I'm planning on changing my Hood to Cowl Seal and was wondering if the Panel that the seal fits into will have to come all the way out or can I simply un-bolt it, raise it up, then pull the old seal out and then replace it.
Any help will be greatly apperciated. Thanks

unscrew all the metal screws attaching the cowl to the cab and then unbolt the outer body bolt that you can see when you open the hood and you should be able to lift it up enough to remove the old one and replace with your new piece.
word of warning. the new seals are a bit thicker, so you should trim it back a bit so your hood will properly close........

Yep, I did it just like that. It slipped in with no problem. The seal I bought fit nice with no trimming. It's an easy job so if you need to trim it you can pull it back out. I would try it first.

Man I had no idea how that thing went in. I bought one, but there isnt' one on our truck to see how it's supposed to look.
Does anyone have any pics they could post of this seal after it's installed? |

I've been soaking mine with silicone to soften it up so the hood will sit properly. Slow process but its getting there.

Do yourself a favor and pull the cowl while you have it apart.The BB vendors carry a screen for the cowl panel and unless you have one you want to install one and clean out the cowl vents.This helps prevent rust in the kickpanel area and the rear portin of the front fender.
