Re: assit in lift 70 chevy
you have a couple of options, one is to turn it into leaf in the rear,or buy longer springs for the rear, the rear is the easy part, the front is the kicker, you will almost need some kind of spindle that is longer then normal,i think you can get about 2-3" out of the front with longer springs, but i dont think you can get anymore

Re: assit in lift 70 chevy
I agree with hilljob, the rear would not be too difficult. I would use longer springs on the rear or some quality spring spacers or cups on the top end. I have always wondered if a block could be added to the rear just as if it were a leaf sprung truck. I'm sure someone else here could tell us if blocks would work. The front woud be the problem. If you spring up the control arms too much it is going to kill the angle of your tires and wear them out pretty quick, look funny and handle a little wierd. If you are really serious about doing it I would get a straight axle, like out of an old ford or somthing, not a driven axle, and swap it out. Would be a lot of work. Leafs and all. If you don't mind body lifts then a 2" body lift (don't go any bigger on a body lift then 2", they start effecting too much stuff and look bad)with a little extra spring in the front and rear should give you about 4" and I think the front control arm should be OK with just 2" extra spring. That might be the easiest way to go.
Good luck.

Re: assist in lift 70 chevy
Yes, all the factory 4X4's came with leaf springs. Mounting the trailing arms on top of the axel will give you about 3" of lift. Add a 2" block and you are at 5". Someone posted pictures of this setup, probably on the 4X4 board.
I too want lift my truck, but only about 3". I have not found a good solution yet, but I am sure there is one. More research ahead.
