Re: how much to lower???

Here's my 63 (same suspensoin that you have.) I cut two rounds off the front coils and installed 70's Chevelle coils in the rear. Very easy and cheap to do. Use that money for some other parts.

Re: how much to lower???

........as far as rear goes...........I installed 4" lower HD springs in my 'burb and had NO clearance issues w/out a notch. Im sure others will have gone lower w/ springs and have the info.

You will need the shortened panhard bar.

I have 5" drop in the back, no notch.
I still need a shorter panhard bar though.

63&64 what do you mean by cutting off 2 rounds, do you have any pics that could help visualize? did that affect your front suspension any?

Re: how much to lower???

As mentioned above, check out ECE (Early Classic Enterprises) they have a great page that shows the same truck with different lowering combos on it. I haven't ordered anything from CPP, but I have heard good and bad results from ordering with them. As far as ECE, nothing but positive feedback.

Good luck with the project, and be sure to post pics!

sorry, I didn't take pics. Just didn't think of it at the time. But, basically start at the end of the spring, go around two full turns and you have your mark where you're gonna cut directly under the starting point. It did make the ride a little rougher, but nothing serious. Barely noticeable. I did have to sawzall off the bump stops off the lower control arm. The stock shocks still worked. I think if I had it to do over, I'd cut 1 1/2 turns off because the way mine is now, the inner portion of the lower control arm sits lower to the road than the outer portion. I never had it realigned. Everyone said I should. But, it's not like I put a bunch of miles on this truck. I use my 64 mostly. Just eyeballling the alignment, it looks right. I'm sue it's not perfect. But, it's not like it's gonna burn off a set of tires in 1,000 miles either.

Re: how much to lower???

I have found that ride height of 4"-6" on a static drop your good to go. So that is were I build everything. If I bag it I will put it at 4" this way it will lay out.

Re: how much to lower???

Thanks for the pics with the Chevelle springs ... picked up a set of '70 rear coils today to try on the 72. Here's the best part ... $5 for them!

Re: how much to lower???

if you have $3, one or two hours and want to get 2" lower in the back, read this FAQ that one of my personal heroes, TX Firefighter, wrote up: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=196349
