87 1 ton fuel tank bracket
I new to this forum and I recently bought a 87 chevy v3500 4wd for my landscape company. the inspection sticker is good until April but I need to fix a few things before I think it will pass. I'm looking for the bracket and straps for the saddle side fuel tank. It seems that one is completly rusted through. If anyone can point me in the right direction that would be great.

Re: 87 1 ton fuel tank bracket
I saw the catalog online and they don't seem to even show the bracket itself just the straps.

Re: 87 1 ton fuel tank bracket
well post a report when you get them and the name of the manufacturer so that others in the same pickle can get them when needed

Re: 87 1 ton fuel tank bracket
Just thought I would update this post. I got the brackets and installed them. The only problem I had with them was the threaded rod used to tighten the straps down was threaded wrong, It was supposed to be 3/8 - 16 thread but the tool used to thread the rod must have been dull or something. Either way we chased the threads and had to double nut the thread to keep the straps in place.

Re: 87 1 ton fuel tank bracket
Other then that we have to replace some of the wires to the pump, but all else is well until we tackle the timing issue.

Re: 87 1 ton fuel tank bracket
Tcalb: The strap bolts are metric (10 mm thread) 15 mm nut goes right on. I got mine from a local GMC dealer. $48 a piece. I am told they are all the same up to 87. I welded 3\8 X 1 bolts to the brackets and painted them before I hung the tanks. I assembled tanks and brackets beforehand. Made the job real easy.Jim
