Whats it worth ?

I looked at a 1987 Red on red short fleet today . Original paint , 5.0L ,auto O/D loaded . Paint is bright but thin in spots . factory 8 inch Rallys . Interior is faded a little . Probably needs carpet , seat covered , and re-dye on doorpanels . Started right up , sounded good . Untouched truck with no rust at all . small dent in pass door . I offered $3500 , he wants $4500 . I wonder if my offer was a little high or about right . Sorry I dont have pics . Any educated guesses without pics . Frank

Re: Whats it worth ?

I think it would bring $4500 in my area. I gave $2800 for my '86 that has some rust and hail damage. It sound like it's in better shape than my red swb. The NO RUST makes it worth it,... plus it's a '87 model. (and red)

Great buy @ $3500. Decent buy @ $4500. Just my opinion.

Re: Whats it worth ?

Frank I think since it's an 87 that 4750.00-5200.00 is about average "retail". He's not giving much off of that. If you bought it for 3500.0 and cleaned it up you might turn a buck. Buying at 4500.00 is going to put you on the high side after you get it where you want it.

Re: Whats it worth ?

I picked this one up 5 years ago and gave $4700 body is pretty much as it was when purchased just put new bumpers on. Everything else has been rebuilt or replaced lol!!! Not going to say what i've got in it today!!Wish i could find these trucks cheap they have always been high around here in south carolina.. for $3500 around here you might be able to make it home with it before something breaks or falls off...

Re: Whats it worth ?

i think it's a o.k price,if it isn't rusty, and it's all there.he'd probably could get that for it in my area.if it isn't something you gotta have right now,i'd let him stew for awhile.tell him to call you when he wants to get rid of it.

Re: Whats it worth ?

I do not know how many actual miles it has . The odometer shows 57,xxx I think and the brake pedal pad has just a slight amount of wear . I usually look at the pad and compare to the mileage . I know they can be changed but this one looks like it has about the right amount of wear . The guy that has it has only owned it for a year or so . Said he lost his job and wont be able to restore the truck like he intended . Frank

It is probably worth the price but I just bought a 2004 Crew Cab two weeks ago and my funds are low . My kind of luck . Frank

Re: Whats it worth ?

So far the only trucks I have bought in the last two months are the 77 bigblock truck and the crewcab . I am going to wait this one out and see if it comes down in price . I took a couple pics and will try to post them tonight . If someone is looking for a truck like this , I would be glad to get his info and send the contact info to them . It is probably worth the price but like I said , I would get slaughtered by the wife if I bring this thing home . At my house right now are a 77 swb bb , 77 lwb sb , 78 lwb paret truck , 74 454 3/4 ton part truck , 89 suburban parts truck , 78 short bed tan truck , parts of my highschool 77 shortbed , 68 Camaro , 87 3/4 ton truck , 04 crew I just bought . wifes car , extra beds , fenders , doors , hoods ,etc . It might just blend in and not be noticed if it wasnt RED . I will let you guys know if I end up with it . Frank

Re: Whats it worth ?

He is pretty inline with price in my opinion. 87 was a one year only for the EFI. $4500 would be on the low side here...

Re: Whats it worth ?

I somehow only have one picture . I took more but I think someone deleted my pics . Here is the one I have . I am going to talk to the guy Monday and take a better look at it . The paint looks good in the pics and the truck is presentable but it is thin in spots . Frank

Re: Whats it worth ?

that looks pretty clean. 4500 is about right considering it is the short wide and an 87 and not rotted.
