what kind of rims are these?

hey there guys, bought the truck, and it had these rims on it. at first i didn't really like them, but they have grown on my a bit. i like em becasue they are different, not many people have them. Im not really a fan of 33s on a 2wd truck though.

ive Photoshopped the pictures a couple times, but nothing really beats the real thing. so the question is,

A) what are these rims called (they are by american racing)

B) does anybody have a picture of a truck (preferably a 69, but ill take anything) with these rims, and a tire closer to an average size?

thanks guys.

Re: what kind of rims are these?

Man I am not sure the name. I am actually a bit shocked you haven't seen more of them. Back in the early to mid 90s they were on everything. Tires do look a little big for the rims/truck.

Re: what kind of rims are these?

We called them Hurricanes. We called the ones below sawblades. Not saying who is right or wrong, just saying what we called them back in day.

I have a set of those too and they are on the 78 camaro inside my enclosed trailer. And yes they were also called sawblades. They just came along later I think.

15 years ago there would humpteen pics of trucks with them, but 15 years ago there was no internet (not widespead at least), so not many pics are floating around out there with these wheels. That's always been one of my gripes about alot of aftermarket wheels - you pay through nose for them when they are new, and in a few years they are literally worth more at the scrap yard than what you could sell them for. I'm already seeing some early 20 inch wheels show at the local scrap metal yard. A guy told me he was scrapping a set recently because - and I quote "I ain't runnin' 'em stale a$$ rims on my car!"

Re: what kind of rims are these?

Turbines is prolly the original name.I don`t know if it was generic or a specific product name.As mentioned,Western Wheel called thrir`s Huricanes. There where simular styles called TurboVecs and Vectors,as well as others.
Here is a TurboVec:

I`d call the ones this thread pinwheels because I never saw a sawblade that looked like that.Well, maybe a brush blade for a weedeater.Whatever...
