fuel line help
related to last post...1982 GMC 5.0 pickup...after shooting air in fuel line{with carb cleaner in it} from fuel pump to tank & pressurising the tank...several times... i finally got gas to come out of line befor the pump...replaced fuel pump & had flow...truck started then no fuel again...repeated the deal with shooting air into line...used an oil pump to suck gas out ot line befor the pump...gas comes out but not freely...what can i do to fix this...short of dropping tank...thanks

HD: Sorry guy, your going to have to pull the tank out and clean it out. All your doing when you back blow the lines is push debris out of and away from the sock on the sender fuel pickup. When you start the engine again all that crap goes right back into the sock and plugs it again. Pull the tank and remove the sending unit and take a good look in there. I think you may find a new tank and possibly sender are in order. As you well know rusting of the tanks and tank supports is a huge issue with our trucks. I'm on my second set of brackets and third pair of tanks now. Jim

Little stuff left to do is mount winch, wet sand & buff out and build belly pan\running boards. Body work takes lots and LOTS of beer!!!! God, Guts and Guns made America and God, Guts and Guns will preserve it! The worst thing you could do is get into my sights, but that don't matter, you'll never know it, cause you'll never hear the shotJim or Paladin whichever you choose. |

if youre lucky you may be able to take your gas tank to a radiator shop and have it boiled out and soldered otherwise james is right

Bob, your right, that is an option, but by the time your done screwing around you might just as well replace the tank(s) and hangers. In the long run it's more cost effective and less labor intensive, right? Jim
