Who has a 9"

I'm thinking of putting one in my shortbed. What are you guys doing to match the chevy five lug with the ford five lug. Is there an axle kit to be had, are you drilling out rotors. I'm trying to decide whether to go with six or five lug disks for the front. If I go with fives then I'll swap rearends. If I stay w/sixes then I'll have to put some time and money in the one I have in order to get posi and the gearing I want.

Re: Who has a 9"

I ordered new axles for my 9" because I couldn't find a machine shop locally that would weld up the 5 on 5 1/2" Ford pattern and re drill at 5 on 5.

Re: Who has a 9"

If you can find one, the 9" out of mid 70's Continentals and MKV cars have 5x5 bolt pattern, are very close to the stock width, and come with discs. They usually have some family-friendly gears (2.50ish) but are otherwise usable. I just picked one up here locally on CL and there's another one listed now. I have another post with a link to it: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=279624

Re: Who has a 9"

Im going with a 9" in my '68 project. my 9" came from a mid 70's Lincoln town car. So, the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2" so weld up and redrilling should be easy machine shop issue. The axle width flange to flange is 64-3/4" so it's right on. I do need to get a different center section as the town car has a factory 3 rib section (junk) so,... I got the housing & axles (axles need redrilled) but redrilling and center section is a easier option for me than narrowing a truck housing.
Going with a limited slip of some sort and 3.55 gears with the stock 28 spline axles.

Re: Who has a 9"

Jacking the thread, but if I am reading correctlly. In order to get a truck 9" to fit, I would have to have it narrowed. I have one out of a 73 Ford F150, I know I would have to get my axles/drums redrilled, but figured the width would be the same.
Does anybody have any info on that part?
