Painting engine

Hey guys, I have an engine paint question. I see these custom trucks with the engine the color of the body. Is there some kind of high heat additive for paint? I would like to paint my engine the color of my truck, but don't know what to use to do this?

Re: Painting engine

one of my buddies did this to his engine, tranny, xcase and just used the paint straight up just like normal, the engine only gets about 200degrees, the paint will burn off around the exaust ports, not sure you can really do anything about that

Re: Painting engine

I use Dupli-Color paint on mine. Has never flaked or burned off. Comes in a lot of colors also. Just make sure that the block/heads are super clean and I used a light coat of primer before the paint.

Re: Painting engine

If you use a chemical stripper before you paint, I used the Cooroless brush on primer to protect from residual stripper residue. It lays out real flat and the finish coat has held up well.

Re: Painting engine

make sure it's cleaned really good and prepped right and you'll have no problems... I painted my 28 roadster's engine with single stage and it looks as good today as it did 6 years ago when I painted it.
