ECE drop kits standard versus premium
Tell me why I want to relocate the shocks and a panhard bar for $120
Not questioning the value - just don't know the purpose. |

Re: ECE drop kits standard versus premium
Once you lower the truck the shock are on a worse angle and don't move up and down but instead they try and roll on the two mounting studs. They don't have enough travel in the shock to let the truck move without bottoming out. This makes the ride not so nice.
The track bar is the same way it's length is to long for the drop so it pushes the truck off to the side and makes for a bad ride.

It sucks not being able to hear! LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB! After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs. |

Re: ECE drop kits standard versus premium
If you drop your rear suspension just a couple of inches, it shouldn't be a problem. ECE recommends that you use the shock relocators if you drop it 4-inches or more. It re-establishes a proper angle of operation for the shocks, which would otherwise be useless if you don't relocate them.
As to the adjustable panhard rod, you don't have to use it if you lower it more than 4-inches in the back, but you will find that your rear axle is going to be off-set to one side. The adjustable track bar lets you center the rear end under the chassis. You could alter your stock panhard rod, if you wanted to do so. I have the shock relocators and the adjustable track bar under my '69, which is lowered 4-inches in the back. The ride is outstanding. ECE's website and their free catalog will explain why they make their suggestions. They also have excellent technical help, and have saved me some money (costing them the same) by suggestion other sources.

Re: ECE drop kits standard versus premium
I went with the premium kit and have been very happy with the results. My 68 rides like a new truck.

Awesome. Thanks all who responded...
I dont have a problem with the 120 more (especially when shocks+springs (non KYB)) are the same price on LMC as the premium on ECE. THANKS!!! |

Re: ECE drop kits standard versus premium
Did you call and place your order? Sometimes they are able to cut a better deal than they website lists. ECE has quality products that you will not regret the extra money. Be sure to post pics...
