Drive Shaft
OK I got the transmission done and was just checking everything out good under the truck. The rear u-joint has a little slipping in it. Is this normal or is it time to replace, I shot a couple of pumps of grease into it. It's not tight in the peice that holds it to the rear end it moves up & down.
What do you think?

Re: Drive Shaft
I think you need to tighten the U-bolts to specs and wiggle the shaft and if there is ANY play at all, replace the u-joint.

Re: Drive Shaft
Thanks that's what I thought. I torqued them back down but it is still moving slightly.

Re: Drive Shaft
Caps moving in the diff yoke. Well the whole thing moves. The two caps that attach to the rear end slip up and down the ones on the drive shaft don't move.

Re: Drive Shaft
Then you might have the wrong U-joint or maybe the u-bolts are crap but there def.should not be the slightest movement there.

Re: Drive Shaft
exactly. I would start with replacement straps/u-bolts and bolts.
