Trip to a local junk yard.
It's raining in LA so I thought it maybe a good time to visit couple local junk yards. Man was I wrong, they were still a lot of guys looking for parts. I took some pics. I had to hide, cameras are not allowed. I saw a 68c20? almost complete, no rust. Fenders, radiator support, doors all were good. I didn't care much for them, I was looking for a 69 parts. One ford got my attention. It looks like it's been just painted. I dont know why they junked it. For some reason Ramblem cut my attention also. Car was clean, no rust and straight 6. Too bad it was a 4 doors. I might go back next weekend again.

Re: Trip to a local junk yard.
Wow. When you said it was raining and you were going to the Junkyard, I thought "what a mess" I don't think I have ever seen a complete concrete junkyard. Ours are always nasty and dirty since they are on dirt and weed lots. Looks like good junkyard finds!

Re: Trip to a local junk yard.
That's them city folk junk yards. No mud or stickers bushes there.
Those are some cool items in your yards. They look like half the stuff people are driving here in Mississippi.

Re: Trip to a local junk yard.
the C/20 looks pretty used up, but I'll tell you what... that 67 f-100 (or was it a 200?) would be worth GOBS up here. They rusted away and returned to mother earth 20 years ago up here.

Re: Trip to a local junk yard.
You see quite a few of those '67's and '68's around here, and they go for a lot less money then the GMC's/Chevys. They don't look bad, but they don't drive near as nice as ours. You can get a very nice unmolested relatively rust free truck for 2500-3000, easily.

Re: Trip to a local junk yard.
the 67 - 72 fords up here are nonexistant like I mentioned. its too bad, becouse other than a crappy design front suspention, and the shock towers rotting out (and it's the support for the WHOLE front end) they are actually quite nice trucks. Good looking, lots of engine/tranny options, and back then, ford actually had a good product. I must have test drove 12 of them before getting my first chevy truck.

Re: Trip to a local junk yard.
I saw a lot of 73 and up GM trucks. I am thinking of doing a disc swap. How long does it take to drop the front crossmember out of a 73 and up trucks?
So, you guys like the pics? I can take more next time. |

Re: Trip to a local junk yard.
All the junk yards i go too are mud with wter standing and weeds growing up around the cars. You have to hope you dont get bit by a snake when you go under a car that is sunk in the mud.
