I don't really see what it has to do with Ebay... Same thing could have happened regardless of where you hooked up with the buyer. Don't know what the virus issue is about, unless you're saying you had a lapse in communication with the buyer. What kind of rating/reputation does the buyer have. Usually they are as worried about their reputation as you are, if they are credible. Personally, I always accept returns and usually refund shipping if there is any chance the issue is legitimate. There's also the option of selling via Craigs list and only selling locally. Smaller customer base, but a lot more secure.
